November 2019

Feeling thankful (and full!) after a cozy Thanksgiving at our house yesterday. Little cousins ran around and played, we had a delicious spread, and the little boys had pretty good table manners! After dinner we set the little kids up with a movie and played Vertellis as a family. It was a great way to learn more about each other and ourselves! (The boys helped me make shapes for the sweet potato pie in case you can't tell. Also: recipes for sweet potato pie, chocolate cream pie, and lentil loaf wrapped in puff pastry.) Stocking up on Boogie Wipes and... Read more →

At the beginning of November Chris attended a conference in Philadelphia and I tagged along. We enjoyed the city so much and ate such great food; it might have been one of the best culinary trips we've been on. I had no idea Philly was such a foodie city – I stand corrected! What made the trip extra fun was the bonus of spending time with cousins. My cousin Scott lives in Philadelphia with his wife Jen and teenage daughter Lily. I don't get to see them often so it's always a treat when I do. I love talking to... Read more →

I have loved looking back my the posts I wrote during my pregnancies with Dashiell and Cedric. In fact, I think I'm wearing the same dress at 22 weeks with Dashiell and 24 weeks with Cedric! I had given this dress to a friend and she returned it to me at the beginning of this pregnancy – love it. As I'm sure is typical, I wrote several pregnancy posts during my first pregnancy and just a couple during my second but I'm so grateful for what I did record. Especially since it's been a few years since my last pregnancy,... Read more →

Sundays are a beginning and an end: the end of the weekend, the start of a new week. After several days of being out in the world and feeling the influence of so much input I love to make Sundays a day to reset; to exist only in the world that includes our home and family. I wrote about the concept of the Sunday home that I love so much years ago (look how little the boys are!) and I still think about creating a Sunday home. I find it comforting to look for the rituals in our life and... Read more →

Thanksgiving might be my favorite holiday because it's a day all about loved ones and food. It's also a really fun holiday to plan and planning is one of my favorite things. There's browsing recipes, thinking about table decor, deciding who will make what, and planning fun things for the kids to do. We're hosting Thanksgiving this year so I have lots to plan! I love keeping a Thanksgiving Pinterest board for collecting recipes and ideas. Who's gathering There will be our family of four, Chris's parents, and Chris's sister's family. All together that's five adults and five kids (ages... Read more →

We've entered my favorite stretch of the year: the coziest part of the year. It feels especially cozy to be pregnant and feel my baby girl (!!) kick. Plus I'm eagerly anticipating my nephew being born and a good friend having a baby. Is there anything cozier than a cute baby bump or a bundled newborn over the holidays? (No.) We're starting the month with a trip for Chris and me to Philadelphia where Chris is attending a conference. It's chilly but sunny and there are fall leaves on the ground. We are soaking it up! There's also the bonus... Read more →

Friends, I'm so excited to share some big news: we're expecting Baby Wharton #3!!! And we're having a baby girl! We are over the moon to being having another baby. It was something we thought about a lot over the past couple of years (and honestly ever since we had Cedric it's been in the back of my mind) but we just couldn't make a decision. I had a chart of pros and cons taped to our bathroom mirror for a long time. I hate being in limbo over big life decisions and really didn't like the feeling of not... Read more →
