How to have a hygge summer
The truth about living in a small(ish) family home

Goals - June 2017

Goals - June 2017 | RISING*SHINING

Hello, June!

Over the past two weeks we've gone swimming SIX times. So I'd say we're in summer mode.

Now that I have my summer hygge plan I'm feeling pretty welcoming towards summer. Chris's schedule has become significantly less demanding and that makes everything feel easier. Perhaps the only drawback is that I'm pretty busy at work during the summer. It's harder to stay motivated about work when Chris is able to relax more!

This month my Get To Work Book ends and I need to buy another - my third! This one will take me through June 2018 which feels crazy. Dash starts kindergarten in August 2018 - ahhhhhh! I love keeping an academic year planner; it feels like a little mid-year fresh start. This is reminding me to check in on my 2017 goals and see how I'm doing.

Looking ahead, I feel like this month is going to fly by. I'll be traveling for two of the four weekends in June and we leave for Austin on June 29! It's going to be so fun but it also makes me think I need to be intentional about getting to work on summer goals like planning the next season of Matrimoney and Christmas planning. Look at me now wishing summer wouldn't go by so fast!

Big things happening in June:

+ The boys start swim lessons on Saturday mornings. So far Dash loves it and Cedric hates it (although he usually loves swimming).

+ Dash attends a once per week hip hop dance class. Chris's dream come true.

+ Family adventure to Prescott and Father's Day on the same weekend.

+ Camping (just me) with book club girl friends up in the mountains.

+ Chris and Dash possibly going camping with family.

+ Prepping, packing and then flying to Austin!

In June I choose to:

+ Prepare Chris's father's day gift and send a gift to my dad.

+ Finish my first embroidery piece and start a second (of the same pattern).

+ Have a Matrimoney planning meeting with Chris.

+ Have a Christmas planning meeting with Chris. We'd love to make more of the Christmas gifts we give this year but this means we need to start early!

Recurring monthly goals:

+ Spend 15 minutes each day on creative writing. This is any writing that's just for me. It could be blogging, writing in the boys' memory journal or working on an essay.

Update: This has not been happening consistently. So somehow this isn't working for me. Perhaps I'll reassess this goal.

+ Make Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evenings for work and leave Thursday and Friday open.

Update: Generally I aim for this plan and do OK. I could do a better job of gearing up to get stuff done Monday - Wednesday evening, even if nothing is "due." This would help me get ahead and lot let work spill over later in the week or the next week.

+ Check Mint at least once each week. To CHOOSE savings I need to be mindful of every transaction and stick to my monthly personal allowance budget.

Update: Yes. Doing really well and as a result we feel really on top of our finances. Feels great.

Happy June!
