Goals - April 2015
April brings big celebrations for Team Wharton. On this day waaaay back in 2010, Chris and I tied the knot on a perfect spring day in Austin under a sprawling live oak tree. Happy five year anniversary, Chris! Love love love. We're going on a day date this Saturday to celebrate. YES. Fun fact: At one point Chris and I were both secretly texting our favorite babysitter trying to surprise the other with a date for our anniversary - ha!
This month we'll also celebrate our radiant boy, Dashiell, turning two. I know it's trite but I can't believe it. I can't believe he's already two but I also can't believe it hasn't been longer. How is it that he was once not part of our lives?
Also this month: Easter! Hunting for Easter eggs is definitely on the agenda and I think it will really click for Dashiell this year. I'm looking forward to putting some treats together for Dashiell's Easter basket and hiding (ahem, scattering) eggs in the backyard. Cedric might join in the fun by gumming a plastic Easter egg.
In other news, oh my goodness it's getting warm. Eeek! But we are enjoying being outdoors (and in the shade as much as possible) and already bought Dashiell a swimsuit because splash pad season is here. Cedric is already rocking his Baby Banz (which are polarized!).
Big things happening in April:
+ Dashiell turns TWO! I'm planning to take April 9th off work to hang out with my big boy and that weekend we'll have a laid-back birthday party at a nearby park.
April goals:
+ Up my Orange Theory attendance to twice per week. I love getting back to regular exercise and I'm in love with Orange Theory but I feel like I have so far to go to get back in shape. It's frustrating but I'm reminding myself to be patient and to enjoy being active again. Fitting in the two times per week might be tricky. Right now I go Sunday morning and I'm going to try adding a post-bedtime class and see if I can make that work.
+ Get my hair trimmed. The postpartum hair loss is hitting me hard so I'm feeling a bit blah about my hair. Getting a trim (and seeing my awesome stylist) is sure to make me feel a bit better. It feels a little silly making this as a goal but it's tough to coordinate with Chris's schedule as well and find a time I can squeeze in a haircut. Here's to hoping I can make it happen!
+ Host another casual neighbor dinner. This one is on the calendar and will be special because Erica's girls will be there! I've got simple black bean tacos on the menu (using Molly's bean doctor recipe) with all the fixings.
Recurring monthly goals:
+ Maintain podcast recording/production schedule necessary to air a new Girl Next Door Podcast episode every other week. We've been planning another awesome year for you so I hope you'll subscribe on iTunes or on favorite podcast player (like Stitcher for you non-Apple folks) and tune in!
+ Download photos off of phone and sort them into folders for Cedric's baby photo book and our 2015 Team Wharton family album.
Happy April!
P.S. On the latest podcast episode aptly named How's It Going? Please Send Coffee, Erica and I are catching you up on all that's going on in our lives.
