Austin Weekend

Last weekend Chris and I went to Austin one last time before the baby arrives and I attended my baby shower! It was so good to be home. I was able to see many good friends and family members and it was so fun to celebrate my pregnancy with everyone. At my shower there were FIVE other gals who are pregnant (including Sara!) and our due dates are March, April, May, June, July, and August. How amazing and awesome is that?

Chris and I were certainly showered with gifts and came home with baby clothes, books, toys, swaddles, changing pad, breast feeding pillow, a hand embroidered alphabet that we can frame (from a neighbor who also embroidered something for my mom when I was born), and beautiful handmade blanket among other things. Everyone was so generous. My mom also found a set of baby blankets that she used for my my sister and me that I'll be able to use for my baby. Amazingly we were able to fit it all in the extra suitcase we brought and made it home with everything. We're definitely feeling more ready!

While in Austin I also got my fix of tex-mex, delicious vegetarian/vegan fare at Bouldin Creek and Mother's, Amy's Ice Cream, and a cinnamon roll from Upper Crust that I had been craving. Chris twirled me and the bump around the dance floor at the Guero's beer garden Saturday night, we hit Rainey Street with my parents and sister and played cards, and fit in a walk at Lady Bird Lake. It was a great Austin weekend and it was hard to say goodbye to my family, friends, and city that I love. There were definitely some tears at the airport while I waited at our gate and had a final cup of Amy's ice cream.

BUT there are very exciting times ahead for Chris and me. We're having our baby in two months! And my parents and sister will visit in May and then Chris and I plan to travel back to Austin during our time off before I go back to work. Can't wait to be back in Austin with a baby in just a few months!

(Thanks to a friend's mom, Trudy, for the pregnant gals photo!)
