A quiet Falliday

Fallidaycake

We had another cozy Falliday this year during the first weekend of November. We were excited to take a day trip to the mountains in the Payson, AZ area to see some fall color that weekend but I ended up not feeling great - allergies/cold and mild nausea - so we decided to stay put. Even though we didn't make it this year I love the idea of trekking to see fall color as one of our Falliday traditions. Next year we can celebrate as a family!

This year our fall-inspired meal was wild rice-stuffed acorn squash, roasted Brussels sprouts (which were just featured on my favorite cooking podcast), glazed sweet potatoes, pumpkin garlic knots, and a vegan version of my favorite pumpkin cake which we also had last year (I need to make it more often, it's sooo good!).

For Chris's Falliday gift I got him socks, which I now consider the traditional Falliday gift. Chris bought me the Parts 1 and 2 of the 7th Harry Potter movie, perfect for watching on cold and grey weekends (for the few that we get each winter!).

Fall has definitely arrived in the desert - chilly nights but sunny and warm days. And now we're in the middle of the holidays, my favorite time of year. I'm so glad it's here.

P.S. Our Falliday last year.
